This bench design came about when I received a commission for a fiftieth birthday present. It was delivered with a custom brass plaque commemorating the occasion attached to the back of the middle slat. The back legs are sections of old wrought iron wagon rims that in their earlier lives rolled over the prairies of eastern Colorado. Each bench has unique twisted hex bar arches and details...the last two fotos show an iron snake crawling up a front leg...this bench was left to weather naturally, since Purple Heart is now often used as a Teak substitute on yachts. Once it grays up completely, we will use a marine oil to keep the wood from going through wet and dry cycles...
